Breathitt County según la web http://www.breathittcounty.org/,  es un Condado localizado en el Estado de Estados Unidos de Kentucky, a los pies de los Apalaches. Fue creado el 08/02/1839 de partes de los Condados Clay, Estill and Perry. El Condado recibe su nombre en honor al Gobernador de Kentucky de 1832 a 1834 John Breathitt. Según la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos en 2010  la población es de 13.878 habitantes (17.540 en 1910)y una superficie son 1.282 km2 (495 millas 2). La capital es Jackson.

Corvallis según la web http://www.corvallisoregon.gov/, es una ciudad en el  corazón del Valle Willamette del Estado de Oregón, a 90 minutos del área metropolitana de Portland, está situada la Universidad Estatal de Oregón. Según la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos en 2010  la población es de 54.462 habitantes (4.552 en 1910). Inicialmente nombrada Marysville, Corvallis fue renombrada por Avery en 1853 para evitar confusión con Marysville, California. Avery se cree que acuñó la ciudad 'Corvallis' un nombre que él compuso componiendo las palabras latinas para el "corazón del valle". En el invierno de 1847-1848, JC Avery junto  12 acres de tierra alrededor de su cabaña. Conocida como "Little Fields", este fue el inicio de lo que se convertiría en la comunidad de Corvallis.

Greenville según la web http://www.cityofgreenville.org/, Greenville esta estratégicamente situado en Centro Oeste del Estado de Ohio, a 150 km de la capital de Ohio Columbus y 233 km de Toledo. Según la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos en 2010  la población es de 13.227 habitantes (6.237 en 1910). En 1793, Anthony Wayne ordenó la construcción de una fortificación en el sitio que llamó Greene Ville, por su amigo y compañero en la Revolución Americana, Nathanael Greene.

Asturias es una Comunidad Autonóma del Norte de España, con 1.007.802 habitantes en 2014 (Instituto Nacional de Estadistica de España) (685.131 en 1910), http://www.turismoasturias.es, su capital es Oviedo, fue reino entre el 718 y el 910, el Reino de Asturias. Fue la tierra de los Astures antes y en tiempos del Imperio Romano.

¿Por qué escribo estas mínimas notas de estos sitios de Estados Unidos y pongo su situación? , porque hoy es sencillo a cualquier persona obtener información sobre Breathitt County (Kentucky), Corvallis (Oregón) o Greenville (Ohio) o a un ciudadano de estos lugares obtener información de Asturias, pero hace 110 años no era tan sencillo, por lo que sorprende que en The Breathitt County News (16/08/1907), Corvallis Gazette (24/09/1907) y The Greenville Journal (3/10/1907) aparezca el siguiente artículo.

Los Famosos Asturianos

Asturias, de donde el heredero al trono de España toma su título, ya no se denomina así oficialmente, en 1833 paso a llamarse provincia de Oviedo, pero el nombre sobrevive vigorosamente en el lenguaje ordinario. Es uno de los topónimos más antiguos de España. Los Asturianos han sido famosos en tiempos de los Romanos por sus cualidades marciales, por sus apreciados caballos con hermosos movimientos, según la lectura de un pasaje de Lucano (Marco Anneo Lucano poeta Cordobés sobrino de Séneca), la palidez de la cara de los mineros del oro («y el pozo en el monte excavado se ahonda hasta el nivel de la llanura irrigada. No se hundiría tan profundamente, tan lejos, abandonando la luz, el pálido buscador del oro ástur»).
Asturias es una región protegida por las montañas y luchó durante mucho tiempo contra los romanos y después contra los moros, por lo que la lengua de los asturianos, conocida como Bable, está más cerca del latín que de otros dialectos españoles.

No he encontrado relación entre Breathitt County, Corvallis, Greenville (Ohio) y Asturias, no digo que no haya, viendo el texto de la noticia, se puede relacionar con el nacimiento el 10/05/1907 del primogénito de Alfonso XIII, que sería Príncipe de Asturias y solo he encontrado en prensa española del s. XIX y principios del s. XX unas pocas noticias de estas ciudades en España. Oregón fue español hasta la ratificación del Tratado Adams – Onis el 22/02/1821, (no Onís no tiene que ver con Asturias, en Asturias hay 2 concejos llamados Onís, Cangas de Onís y Onís, se trataba del salmantino Luis Onís), y Kentucky y Ohio estaban cercanos a la Luisiana Española en el s. XVIII. El Breathitt County News, fue fundado en Jackson por J. Wise Hagins (1861-1933) en 1901, se hizo famoso rápidamente por sus reportajes sobre las violentas rivalidades que le dieron al condado una reputación generalizada como "Sangriento Breathitt". Una sola noticia en Jackson, Breathitt County, Kentucky sobre un hecho sangriento en unas elecciones municipales, incluso parece que antepasados del famoso político español Antonio Cánovas del Castillo vivieron en Lexington (Kentucky). Corvallis Gazette, fue fundado en 04/1900. En 1912 en Asturias se anunciaban los viajes de la Compaigne Générale Transatlantique viajes a América desde Vigo y expedían billetes combinados con los ferrocarriles de EEUU para varios Estados entre ellos Oregón. The Greenville Journal, fue fundado el 19/04/1850, anteriormente se llamaba The Greenville Patriot, el periódico apoyo primero al partido Whigs y después al partido Republicano, y la candidatura de  Abraham Lincoln. En 1905 algunos periódicos españoles hablaban de Greenville (Ohio) por un accidente mortal que tuvo el aeronauta John E. Baldwin con un globo, que le costó la vida, en presencia de 20.000 a 35.000 espectadores, incluidos su esposa y sus 3 hijos, The Greenville Journal hablo en 1907 del nacimiento del primogénito de Alfonso XIII.

As of the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, the population is 13,878 (17,540 in 1910) and a total area of 495 square miles (1,282 km2). Its county seat is Jackson.

Corvallis according the web http://www.corvallisoregon.gov/, it is a city nestled in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley, within 90 minutes of the Portland Metropolitan area; it is home to Oregon State University. The U.S. Census Bureau in 2010, the population is 54,462 (4,552 in 1910). Originally named Marysville, Corvallis was renamed by Avery in 1853 to avoid confusion with Marysville, California. Avery is credited with coining the town 'Corvallis' a name which he made up by compounding the Latin words for 'heart of the valley'. In the winter of 1847-1848, J. C. Avery ambitiously chained off 12 acres of land around his cabin for town lots. Known as 'Little Fields', this was the inception of what would become the community of Corvallis.

The U.S. Census Bureau in 2010, the population is 13,227 (6,237 in 1910). In 1793, Anthony Wayne ordered the construction of a fortification at the site he named Greene Ville, named for his friend and comrade in the American Revolution, Nathanael Greene

Asturias is an Autonomous Community of the North of Spain, with a population in 2014 of 1,007,802 (National Statistics Institute of Spain) (685,131 in 1910), http://www.turismoasturias.es/en/home, its capital is Oviedo and it was Kingdom between 718 and 910, the Kingdom of Asturias. It was the land of the Astures before and in time of the Roman Empire.

Why do I write this small notes of these places from United States and I put its situation?, because today it's simple to any person obtain information about Breathitt County (Kentucky), Corvallis (Oregon) or Greenville (Ohio) or to a citizen of these place to obtain information from Asturias, but 110 years ago it wasn't so easy, so it is surprising that in The Breathitt County News (16/08/1907), Corvallis Gazette (24/09/1907) and The Greenville Journal (3/10/1907) published the following article.

I have not found any relation between Breathitt County, Corvallis, Greenville (Ohio) and Asturias, I don’t say that there is not, seeing the text of the new, it cans be related with the birth on 10/05/1907 of the firstborn of Alfonso XIII, which would be Prince of Asturias, and I have only found in the Spanish press of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century, a few news from these cities in Spain. Oregon was Spanish until ratification of the Adams-Onis Treaty on 22/02/1821, (no Onis does not have to do with Asturias, in Asturias, there are two councils called Onis, Onis and Cangas de Onis, it was Luis Onis from Salamanca), and Kentucky and Ohio were nearby to the Spanish Louisiana in the XVIII century. The Breathitt County News, founded in Jackson by J. In 1905 some Spanish newspapers spoke of Greenville (Ohio) for a mortal accident that it had the aeronaut John E. Baldwin with a balloon, he died in presence of 20,000 at 35,000 spectators included his wife and his 3 children, The Greenville Journal spoke in 1907 of the birth of the firstborn of Alfonso XIII.
