VI y V a.

On June 10, 1911, John de la Cierva Peñafiel, Deputy for Mula (Murcia - Spain), Minister several times, conservative, he was the father of the inventor of the autogiro, he travelled to Asturias (Spain), during this visit, on June 13, 1911, he travelled from Oviedo to San Esteban de Pravia, in a train of the Basque-Asturian Railway, (that it had begun to perform the service on August 02, 1904), and passes through Grado, where he received a loud ovation from the platforms of the station. On June 21, 1911, in the Congress of Deputies, the following intervention takes place:
De la Cierva: I have heard to speak Mr. Azcarate of the Cross of Beneficence, and that; I want to direct a request to the Minister of the Government. In my recent trip to Asturias I have had the opportunity to know a fact that I am going to present to the consideration of Their Lordships and the Chamber. In a small town of the Council of Grado, very few days ago, a child suffered very serious burns. He has been to point of death; the doctors told that it was necessary to cure him that someone donates to pieces of his skin. Everyone, absolutely all the neighbors of that village lent themselves to undergo the operation and each gave a piece of his skin, which healed that child. This is a fact of such nature that it is enough to expose it so that the Minister of the Government, safely interpreting the feelings of all the Deputies, adopt those measures that the law allows him to somehow be ratified publicly and solemnly gratitude, admiration, more specifically, which inspires such an act. The acting Minister of the Government (Barroso): I thank Mr. Cierva very much for the manifestations he has just made, because they give me the means to know this matter and immediately order, that the dossier be instructed to reward as it deserves those beings Humanitarians who have given as great proof of self-denial and love of neighbor as the one just expounded by Their Lordships.
In that legislature (March 6, 1911 - January 2, 1914 dissolved the Congress), it was not mentioned again issue, the Gazette of Madrid (Today’s Official State Gazette, BOE), it is not appeared at that time, the granting of a Cross of Beneficence to any village of the Council of Grado, and neither in the Asturian press consulted.

In a conversation with the Grado Official Chronicler, Gustavo Adolfo Fernández Fernández, we talked about this blog post, and Gustavo told me, that the village was Llantrales (parish of La Mata - Grado), and that a few years ago some students and a teacher of an educational center of Grado, they had done a work about this event, also adds that there was a party, the party of the cut, after these clues, I found some more information about the event, which I add, it wasn't a child but a girl, daughter of Antonio Miranda González and María Rodríguez González, in 1912 the City Council of Grado publishes the following announcement:
On May 8, 1912, a file case is sent to Madrid, from Oviedo, initiated at the request of Martín González del Valle (Oviedo December 25, 1882 - Madrid, January 13, 1951), II Marqués de la Vega de Anzo, to be granted the Cross of Beneficence to 38 residents of the villages of Llantrales , that gave pieces of skin.
Antonio and Maria had at least 3 daughters and 4 children, who was injured, the doctor who attended the case was Manuel Gómez Valle, it seems that he extracted a small square of skin, of the buttock of the donor and then grafted it in the girl. It should be remembered the election of 1909 of municipal doctor, that it finished with suspensions of the plenary sessions of the City council and altercations, when leaving victorious Manuel, with respect to his opponent Jose Menéndez, Manuel was supported by Republicans and Liberals, and it seems he was not very in agreement Mayor, Manuel Gómez, besides being a doctor, was an activist to get the installation of a Secondary Education Institute in Grado, arriving to give a lecture at the beginning of the Second Republic (1931-36), he was married to María Coalla Suárez-Valdés, he lived in Cerro de la Muralla street, 1, her mother-in-law was Ramona Suárez-Valdés and Ahuja-Manuel, who in 1935 was buried in the family pantheon in the Chapel of the Dolores.
It seems that the holidays did not have a fixed date, it was special held in August 1927, that year the commission or brotherhood did not pay the party, the party was held on the estate of Braulio, was also accompanied by a banquet, which was paid by César Rodríguez González, he was María's brother and therefore, uncle of the girl, there still remained a few years until César acquired a tailor shop in Madrid, “El Corte Inglés”.

Upon finding me instructing, I requested the concession of the Cross of the Civil Order of Beneficence to several neighbors of the village of Llantrales, who allowed themselves to tear pieces of skin to cover the serious burns suffered by a girl, daughter of Mr. Antonio Miranda. , from the same neighborhood, announced it to the public for the purposes of claims in favor and against the accuracy of the event.
